Murals are breathing new life into walls of houses along the Ho Nguyen Trung Street in Hai Chau District’s Hoa Cuong Nam Ward, Da Nang. They give this street new face, and make it more beautiful.

As part of the ‘Brighten up your life’ project, the murals aim to create more beautiful streets in the city, and convey the message of a beautiful and peaceful life in the locality to locals and visitors.

The project was jointly implemented by the city-based Hoan My Hospital, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s chapter in Hoa Cuong Nam Ward, and the Da Nang University of Architecture.

The ‘Brighten up your life’ project features such meaningful activities as creating wall murals, repainting schools, screening free outdoor movies, and giving instructions about hand washing and teeth brushing to local pupils, as well as providing basic first aid instructions for them.
The project aims to help locals, including pupils, to discover the beauty of the people, culture and traditions of their hometown, and their country as a whole, as well as to help pupils nurture their beautiful dreams.
Within 12 days, 7 painters, along with students from the city’s University of Architecture, and members from the Hoa Cuong Nam Ward Youth Union organisation, turned the moss-covered walls of houses on Ho Nguyen Trung Street into 30 colourful murals. Each mural is in 2,5m length and 2.2m width.
The murals depict the beauty of the nature, the daily lives of people, and public awareness about environmental protection.
Created by local artists, murals breathe new life into walls and help to revitalise the street.

This is the 2nd street mural project in the city in 2018 after the 1st one in alley No 75 on Nguyen Van Linh Street.
According to Dr Pham Nguyen Cam Thach, Director of the Hoan My Hospital, the new murals along Ho Nguyen Trung Street help to make this street more beautiful, and to build a cultural and civilised urban lifestyle amongst residents, as well as create new inviting venue for locals and visitors.
In the second phase of the project, members from the Hoa Cuong Nam Ward Youth Union organisation will tile the pavements, and re-arrange overhead power cables, as well as open coffee, milk tea and bakery shops, in order to satisfy the demand of locals and visitors.
